Depending on your computer model, the following devices might be
installed in the flex bays:
5.25-inch flex module
Front-access storage enclosure
Multi-drive conversion kit
Optical drive
Slim-optical-drive adapter
Storage drive bracket
Note: The following instructions on how to remove or install an optical
drive also apply to other supported devices in the flex bay.
To remove or install an optical drive, do the following:

Prepare your computer. See Preparing your computer and removing the computer cover.

Remove the front bezel. See Front bezel.

If you are removing an optical drive, do the following:
Disconnect cables
from the rear of the optical drive, press the release button
1, and then slide the optical drive out of the chassis.

Remove the optical-drive retainer from the left side of the
optical drive.

If you are installing an optical drive, do the following:
Locate the optical-drive
retainer from the left side of the computer. Push the retainer downwards
to unlock the retainer. Then lift the retainer out of the chassis.

Install the optical-drive
retainer onto the left side of the new optical drive.

If necessary, remove the plastic panel in the front bezel for
the desired flex bay.
Slide the new
optical drive into the flex bay from the front of the computer until
the optical drive snaps into position.

Connect the cables
to the rear of the new optical drive.
