Intelligent cooling (for ThinkPad Z13 Gen 2 only)

The Intelligent Cooling feature helps you adjust power consumption, fan speed, computer temperature, and performance.

For models with Windows 10

The Intelligent Cooling feature is adjusted through Windows Power Slider. Do the following to select a preferred mode:

  1. Click the battery status icon in the Windows notification area.
  2. Move the slider to the left or right to select a preferred mode.

For models with Windows 11

The Intelligent Cooling feature is adjusted through Windows Settings.

  1. Right-click the battery icon in the quick settings area Network, Sound, or Battery icon on the right side of the taskbar.
  2. Click Power and sleep settings.
  3. Locate the Power mode section and select a preferred mode of the following.

Intelligent Cooling Boost

The Intelligent Cooling Boost feature dynamically adjusts system performance based on the apps you are running. It is recommended that you enable this function especially when using unified communication apps (such as Microsoft Teams).

Note: Ensure that you use this feature in balanced mode to have the best user experience.

To enable or disable the intelligent Cooling Boost feature, do the following:

  1. Enter the UEFI BIOS menu. See Enter the UEFI BIOS menu.
  2. Select ConfigPower.
  3. In the Intelligent Cooling Boost section, turn on/off the Intelligent Cooling Boost switch.
  4. Press F10 to save changes and exit the UEFI BIOS menu.

Use the Cool and Quiet on lap feature (for ThinkPad Z16 Gen 2 only)

The Cool and Quiet on lap feature helps cool down your computer when it becomes hot. Any extended contact with your body, even through clothing, could cause discomfort. If you prefer using your computer on the lap, it is recommended that you enable the Cool and Quiet on lap feature in UEFI BIOS:

  1. Enter the UEFI BIOS menu. See Enter the UEFI BIOS menu.
  2. Click Config and turn on the Cool and Quiet on lap mode switch.
