Using the Privacy Guard feature (for selected models of T490)

Depending on the model, your computer might support the Privacy Guard feature.

The Privacy Guard feature prevents others from peeking at your screen to protect your privacy whenever needed. When the feature is enabled, it darkens the screen and narrows the viewing angle.

The effective direction of the Privacy Guard feature varies depending on your screen direction. If you use the screen in landscape mode, the feature is effective with horizontal angles. If you use the screen in portrait mode, the feature is effective with vertical angles.

People around can all see the screen contents when the Privacy Guard feature is disabled.

If screen is in landscape mode, people on sides can hardly see the screen contents when the Privacy Guard feature is enabled.

If screen is in portrait mode, people on sides can still see the screen contents when the Privacy Guard feature is enabled.

The Privacy Guard feature is turned on automatically when you are required to input passwords for password-protected objects, such as encrypted documents, or applications and Web sites that need password authentication. By default, the automatic Privacy Guard feature for passwords is disabled. You can open Lenovo Vantage to enable it.
