Power supply assembly

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Read this first: Important safety information.

Although there are no moving parts in your computer after the power cord has been disconnected, the following warnings are required for your safety and proper Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification.

CAUTION:
This label indicates hazardous moving parts nearby and warns users and servicers to keep fingers and other body parts away.

Keep fingers and other parts of your body away from hazardous, moving parts. If you suffer an injury, seek medical care immediately.

DANGER
This label instructs users not to open with tools because hazardous voltages, currents, and/or energy levels are present inside any component or near any area that has this label attached.

Disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets before removing the computer cover or any part that has the above label attached.

To remove and install the power supply assembly, do the following:
  1. Prepare your computer. See Preparing your computer and removing the computer cover.

  2. To remove the power supply assembly, do the following:
    1. Disconnect the power supply assembly cables from the system board and all drives. See Parts on the system board.

    2. Release the power supply assembly cables from the cable clips and ties.

    3. Lay the computer on its side and remove the four screws at the rear of the chassis that secure the power supply assembly. Then slide the power supply assembly to the front of the computer and then lift it out of the chassis.

  3. To install the power supply assembly, do the following:
    1. Ensure that the new power supply assembly is the correct replacement.

    2. Install the new power supply assembly into the chassis so that the screw holes in the power supply assembly align with those in the chassis.

    3. Install and tighten the four screws to secure the power supply assembly.
      Note: Use only screws provided by Lenovo.
    4. Connect the power supply assembly cables to the system board and each of the drives.

    5. Secure the power supply assembly cables with the cable clips and ties in the chassis.
