Coin-cell battery

Your computer has a special type of memory that maintains the date, time, and settings for built-in features, such as parallel connector assignments (configurations). A coin-cell battery keeps this information active when you turn off the computer.

The coin-cell battery normally requires no charging or maintenance throughout its life; however, no coin-cell battery lasts forever. If the coin-cell battery fails, the date and time information is lost.

  1. Remove the computer cover. For details, see Computer cover.

  2. Remove the internal speaker if necessary. For details, see Internal speaker.

  3. Remove the system fan. For details, see System fan.

  4. Replace the coin-cell battery.

    2. Remove the coin-cell battery.

    3. Install the coin-cell battery.

    4. Press the coin-cell battery downward until it snaps into position.

  5. Reinstall the computer cover and reconnect the cables. For details, see Completing the parts replacement.
