Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repairs

Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables from the computer.
Remove the computer cover. See Removing the computer cover.
Remove the front bezel. See Replacing the front bezel.
Pivot the drive bay assembly upward. See Pivoting the drive bay assembly upward and downward.
Disconnect the card reader cable from the system board.
Replace the card reader.
CAUTION:Touch only the edges of the card reader. Do not touch the card reader’s circuit board.Figure 1. Removing the card reader

Connect the new card reader cable to the system board.
Reinstall the removed parts. To complete the replacement, see Completing the parts replacement.
