PCI-Express card and PCI-Express card holder

Prerequisite

Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions.


Attention/Caution/Danger icon, warning users and servicers of a hot surface nearby
The PCI-Express card might be very hot. Before you open the computer cover, turn off the computer and wait several minutes until the computer is cool.
For access, do the following:

  1. Remove the power cord. See Power cord.

  2. Remove the computer cover. See Computer cover.

  3. Remove the side system fan cable (if any) from the system board.

Removal steps

  • Type 1
    Remove the side system fan assembly.


    Remove the PCI-Express card holder.


    Loosen the latch that fixes the PCI-Express card.


    Remove the PCI-Express card.

  • Type 2
    Open the PCI latch bracket.


    Remove the PCI-Express card holder.


    Loosen the latch that fixes the PCI-Express card.


    Remove the PCI-Express card.

  • Type 3
    Open the PCI latch bracket and loosen the latch that fixes the PCI-Express card.


    Remove the PCI-Express card.
