Use the keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are keys or combinations of keys that provide a quick way to perform particular functions. They help you work more efficiently.

The following tables introduce the functions of keyboard shortcuts.

FnLock and function keys

Key / Key combination Function description
Fn+FnLock

Switch between the special and standard functions of the function keys (F1–F12).

Function keys provide two sets of functions: special function and standard function. Icons on the key denote the special function, such as an icon of a loudspeaker with a backslash on top of it and an icon of a loudspeaker with a minus sign on the right. Characters on the key denote the standard function, such as F1 and F2.

LED indicator on Esc key indicates which function of the function keys is enabled:

  • When the indicator is off, the special function is enabled.

  • When the indicator is on, the standard function is enabled.
Mute / Unmute (Speakers) Mute / Unmute (Speakers).
Decrease volume Decrease volume.
Increase volume Increase volume.
Enable / Disable the microphone Enable / Disable the microphone.
Decrease screen brightness Decrease screen brightness.
Increase screen brightness Increase screen brightness.
Select and set up display devices Select and set up display devices.
Change power mode Change power mode. For more information about power modes, see Intelligent Cooling.
Print screen Print screen.
Open Snipping Tool Open Snipping Tool.

Other general keyboard shortcuts

Fn+an icon of Microsoft Copilot Open the context menu of the current active app.
Fn+an icon of calculator Open the Calculator (for ThinkPad L16 Gen 1 only).
Fn+an icon of a crescent moon Put the computer to sleep (for ThinkPad L16 Gen 1 only).
Fn+an icon of a horizontal line and several vertical and slanted lines above the horizontal line, which forms an arch Adjust the keyboard backlight.
Fn+an icon of the left arrow Go to beginning.
Fn+an icon of the right arrow Go to end.
Fn+Tab Open Magnifier.
Note: Press the Windows logo key+Esc to turn it off.
Fn+4 Enter sleep mode.
Fn+B Break operation.
Fn+K Scroll contents.
Fn+P Pause operation.
Fn+S Send system request.
Fn+N Open system information Window.
Fn+G Enable / Disable the tapping gesture to launch TrackPoint Quick Menu.

You can customize keyboard settings in Vantage app. To customize detailed settings, open the Vantage app, and then click Device > Input & Accessories.
