It has the ability to use two display adapters simultaneously. Below is the list of devices that are supported per device ThinkPad T440, T440s, T440p, T540p, W540 NVIDIA Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M, NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M NVIDIA Quadro K2100M or NVIDIA Quadro K1100M Intel Graphics : Intel HD Graphics, Intel(R) HD Graphics Family or Intel(R) HD Graphics 5000 STANDARD and ADVANCED MODE In Standard mode, all dock displays uses Integrated Graphics as display output and is limited to a maximum of 3 displays including Computer's LCD. While in Advanced mode, all dock displays uses Discrete Graphics as display output and it increases the maximum number of displays to 6 including Computer's LCD. The procedure below allows user to select "Standard mode" or "Advanced mode" 1. Power off the computer. 2. Power on the computer. 3. While the "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" message is displayed at the lower-left area or lower-center area of the screen, press the F1 key. The ThinkPad Setup menu will be displayed. 4. DISPLAY TOPOLOGY Since Optimus Technology has the ability to use two display adapters, some display monitors (or displays) are assigned to specific adapter. Below describes which display adapter controls the display connector for a certain display monitor. Thinkpad T440, T440s, T440p, T540p Intel HD Graphics - (Computer's LCD) - Computer's analog VGA connector - Computer's DisplayPort connector - Docking Station's analog VGA connector - Docking Station's DVI connector(s) - Docking Station's DisplayPort connector(s) - Docking Station's HDMI connector NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M, GeForce GT 720M - No display is connected to this display adapter. ThinkPad W540 (Standard Mode) Intel HD Graphics - (Computer's LCD) - Computer's analog VGA connector - Computer's DisplayPort connector - Docking Station's analog VGA connector - Docking Station's DVI connector(s) - Docking Station's DisplayPort connector(s) - Docking Station's HDMI connector NVIDIA Quadro K2100M or NVIDIA Quadro K1100M - No display is connected to this display adapter. ThinkPad W540 (Advanced Mode) Intel HD Graphics Family - (Computer's LCD) - Computer's analog VGA connector - Computer's DisplayPort connector NVIDIA Quadro K2100M or NVIDIA Quadro K1100M - Docking Station's analog VGA connector - Docking Station's DVI connector(s) - Docking Station's DisplayPort connector(s) - Docking Station's HDMI connector DUAL ADAPTER CLONE Dual Adapter Clone is a technology where display output from one display adapter is cloned to another display adapter. This feature is unique for NVIDIA Optimus Technology starting from second generation Optimus technology. The only difference between cross adapter clone and traditional clone is that the former involves two display adapters while the latter involves only one. HOW TO CONFIGURE DUAL ADAPTER CLONE Dual Adapter Clone is only supported in Advanced Mode and can be configured in NVIDIA Control Panel. As an example, the procedure below describes the steps on how to configure the dual adapter clone. Remember that the dual adapter clone involves two different graphics devices, so the 'Display Topology' section above will give you an idea which combinations can support dual adapter clone, otherwise, it is considered as a traditional clone. The procedure below assumes to use the LCD and External monitor connected to the docking station. 1. Attach a External monitor to the docking station. 2. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel, and on the left pane, select 'Setup multiple displays' under 'Display' tree. 3. On the right panel, under 'Select the display you want to use', check both LCD and External monitor. 4. Under 'Verify your display configuration', right click on either the LCD or External monitor display icon. 5. Select 'Duplicate with 1 (use 2 as source)' then click Apply. Note: The Dual Adapter Clone can not be enabled by using the Windows display control panel or the Intel's display control panel. ================================================================================ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LIMITATIONS Nothing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADEMARKS * Lenovo and ThinkPad are registered trademarks of Lenovo. * DisplayPort is a trademark of Video Electronics Standards Association. * Intel is a registered trademark of Intel Corporation. * Microsoft and Windows are registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. * NVIDIA, Quadro and NVIDIA Quadro are registered trademarks of NVIDIA Corporation.
