Lenovo Linux Diagnostics - Bootable USB Software readme file for Linux Version 1.5 Overview ========= Lenovo Linux Diagnostics - Bootable USB is a diagnostic tool that can be booted itself and tests the memory and hard drives in Lenovo ThinkPad, ThinkCentre, ThinkStation and ThinkServer. End user has to create the USB diagnostic tool on a Linux system, and it can be used on your Lenovo computer regardless of what OS your system has once it's created. Click the file links to download the files from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded files. INSTALLATION ============ Please use a Linux system to prepare the bootable usb key: unzip linux-bootable-usb-12.tar.gz ("path" is where the package is) cp "path"/linux-bootable-usb-12.tar.gz /tmp/ cd /tmp tar -zxf linux-bootable-usb-12.tar.gz Log on console as root: sudo su (Ubuntu) su- (Redhat/Suse) Plug the USB key on machine Execute bootable script: # cd /tmp/bootable # ./CreateBootable.sh If no dependency is found, then the user is prompted to install them Next step is to choose which device to create the bootable Linux from the menu Please choose the USB key you plugged in to create bootable linux Next, a confirmation will be asked if you really like to format the USB key *notice, all data will be lost if the USB key is formated Then, the creation process will be started.
