BIOS is programming that controls low-level hardware operations, including interactions with diskette drives, hard drives, and the keyboard. The BIOS is stored on a chip. Your computer uses flash BIOS, which can be updated through a program on a flash diskette so that you do not have to replace the BIOS chip to update the BIOS. Note: Make note of any settings you have changed in the BIOS Configuration Utility. These settings may have to be re-entered after updating the BIOS. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Version History ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary of Changes Where: < / > Version number / Lenovo Build number [Important] Important update (New) New function or enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <1.44 / GUEv44A> - (Fix) RH 5.3 64bit loaded failed to shutdown with RDX tape attached to internal USB port <1.43 / GUEV43A> - (Fix) Fix X3360 CPU show different speed in POST and BIOS <1.42 / GUEV42A> - (Fix) Fix E7400 CPU show different speed in POST and BIOS - (Fix) Fix unexpected reboot under DOS if BMC POST Watchdog Enabled - (Fix) Fix some BIOS settings can not be changed by ASU tool - (Fix) Add SMI_LOCK enabled feature to enhance system security in System Management Mode <1.41 / GUEV41A> - (Fix) Fix system will hang when boot if 6x SATA HDD installed - (Fix) Fix unknown device under windows 2000 - (Fix) Fix can not display issue caused by 2 pcs of NetXtreme II and Memory 1G x 4 - (Fix) Fix DIMM 1 is disabled when slot insert some specific adapters - (Fix) Fix Server guide CMOS will not be cleared when clear cmos jumer set <1.40 / GUEV40A> - (Fix) Fixed SEL/VPD/WHEA log to be identical if PCIe SERR occured - (Fix) Fixed System freeze in DOS/4690 by switch on/off external modem <1.39 / GUEV39A> - (NEW) Intial Release ---------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation and Setup Instructions Step by step instructions for this code update (GUI) - Run the "Lenovo System TS100 Windows BIOS Update" by double- clicking the .exe - Choose "Perform Update" and click the "Next" button - If the update is meant for the system on which it is running, the "Next" button will appear - Click the "Next" button to continue - Click the "Exit" button Step by step instructions for extracting the Windows update files (GUI) - Run the "Lenovo System TS100 Windows BIOS Update" by double- clicking the .exe - Choose "Extract to Hard Drive" and click the "Next" button - Choose a directory into which the Windows update files will be saved in the "Save As" dialog - The files extracted are all the files that are necessary to perform a BIOS update under Windows - Run: "wflash" from a command line to update BIOS on 32-bit Windows or: "wflash64" from a command line to update BIOS on 64-bit Windows - Click the "Exit" button Step by step instructions for extracting the DOS update files to diskette (GUI) - Run the "Lenovo System TS100 Windows BIOS Update" by double- clicking the .exe. - Choose "Extract to Floppy" and click the "Next" button. - Place a diskette in the A: drive and press the "OK" button. - The diskette created is the DOS BIOS update diskette. - Click the "Exit" button.
