Version 4.36 Support devices ThinkPad LCD -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT THIS PACKAGE DOES This package installs the software (monitor information file) which defines the following items for ThinkPad LCD. - Monitor INF (Information file for the maximum resolution and monitor naming) - Windows ICM (Image Color Management file for ICC Color Profile) You can obtain an accurate color representation with the Windows ICM file. If you use the preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Windows OS without the preload image. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section. - Make sure that the correct display driver is installed prior to installing this software. Manual Install This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. Downloading file 1. Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear. 2. Follow the instructions on the screen. 3. In the window to choose Run or Save, click Save. 4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click Save. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully. Extracting file 5. Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account. 6. Locate the folder where the file was downloaded. 7. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it. 8. Follow the instructions on the screen. 9. In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse. 10. In the Ready to Install window, click Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9. 11. Click Finish to complete extraction. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR. Installing files [Windows 7] 12. Right-click on the desktop then select Screen resolution. 13. Click Advanced Settings. 14. Select the Monitor tab. 15. Click Properties. 16. Select the Driver tab then click Update Driver. 17. Select "Browse my computer for driver software". 18. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". 19. Click Have Disk. 20. Specify path to this monitor INF then click Open. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR 21. Click OK. 22. Confirm the correct display type, then click Next. 23. Windows has finished installing. Click Close. 24. Click Close for Display Propertries. 25. Click OK for the Monitor tab. 26. Click OK for the Display Settings. [Windows XP] 12. Right-click the desktop and select Properties from the pop up menu. 13. Select the Settings tab. 14. Click Advanced. 15. Select the Monitor tab. 16. Select "Plug and Play Monitor" from monitor type list. 17. Click Properties. 18. Select the Driver tab and click Update Driver. 19. "Hardware Update Wizard" starts. Select "No, not this time" for Windows Update connection and click Next. 20. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next. 21. Select "Don't search, I will chose the driver to install" and click Next. 22. Click "Have Disk". 23. Click Browse then specify location directory and select TPLCD.INF file. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR 24. Click OK. 25. System will show ThinkPad Display. Click Next. System will copy ThinkPad Monitor INF file and color profile. 26. Click Finish, then click Close. 27. Select the Color Management tab. 28. Click Add. 29. Select color profile (*.ICM) and click Add. 30. Click OK. 31. Close the Display Properties. Unattended Install This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and extract the file. 2. In the step 11 of the Installing files section, uncheck the checkbox next to "Install ..... now", and then click Finish to cancel installation. 3. At the command line, execute setup.exe with the -s option.
