WHAT THIS PACKAGE DOES

  This package installs the software (Intel Matrix Storage Console and device
  driver) to enable the following devices.

    - Intel(R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E/M SATA RAID Controller

  Refer to marketing materials to find out what computer models support which
  devices.

  If this package has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing) this
  package will fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted
  below.

  This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.

DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED


 [Device Driver]

  1. Right-click the My Computer and click Properties.
  2. Click Device Manager.
  3. Click the + sign in front of the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers or Storage
     controllers category.
  4. Double-click either of the following devices;
       Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller
       Intel(R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E/M SATA RAID Controller.
  5. Click Driver tab and the driver version is displayed.

  1. Go to Start and select All Programs and then select Intel Matrix Storage
     Manager.
  2. Select Intel Matrix Storage Console.
  3. At the Menu bar, select Help and then select About.
  4. The Intel Matrix Storage Console is displayed at the left bottom part.
     Note: The first-two digits (i.e 8.6) should be the same as with driver's
           version.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Note:
- If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update
  the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the
  Version Information section.


Manual Install

  1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.
     The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSMC.
  3. Click Start, then click All Programs.
  4. Click Accessories, then click Run.
  5. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package
     in the step 2, and click OK.
     Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSMC\Setup.exe
  6. Follow the install instructions.
  7. Click Finish and restart the system.


Unattended Install

  This is for system administrators' use only.

  - Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the files.
  - At the command line, execute SETUP.EXE with the -S options.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSMC\SETUP -S
