Start Windows XP/XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto your hard drive. 3. Click Start, select Run. 4. Click Browse, and specify SetupBD.exe with the full path name where you extracted the package and click OK. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\APPS\SETUP\SETUPBD\Win32\SetupBD.exe 4. Click OK. 5. Click OK, then the driver installation starts. 6. Click Close. CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard) If this is the first time to boot Windows XP/XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, the OS detects the Ethernet Controller automatically. To install the device driver, follow the instructions below. 1. Start Windows XP/XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto your hard drive. 3. It displays "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. 4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next. 5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)". 6. Click Next in "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. 7. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations." and "Include this location in the search:" only. 8. Click Browse button. 9. Point the following driver folder, \PRO1000\Win32 10. Click OK. 11. Click Next, then the driver installation starts. 12. Click Finish when the installation completes. CLEAN INSTALL: (Ethernet Controller in Other devices) Windows XP/XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 detected the Ethernet Controller, but was not able to find the correct device driver. In this case, you will see Ethernet Controller in Other devices in Device Manager. To install the driver, follow the instructions below. 1. Start Windows XP/XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto your hard drive. 3. Click Start, select Run. 4. Click Browse, and specify SetupBD.exe with the full path name where you extracted the package and click OK. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\APPS\SETUP\SETUPBD\Win32\SetupBD.exe 5. Click Open, and click OK. 6. Click OK, then installation will start. 7. Click Close button. Unattended Install This is for system administrators' use only. For unattended installation, Ethernet driver for DOS (e1000.dos) is prepared. Obtain the additional package, "Intel PRO/1000 LAN Adapter Software for DOS" to use the Ethernet drivers for DOS. The information about unattended installation instructions are included in APPS\SETUP\PUSH\WS03XP32 sub-directory in this package. --------------------------------------- Intel PROSet for Windows Device Manager --------------------------------------- Intel PROSet for Windows Device Manager is an extension to the Windows Device Manager. When you install the Intel PROSet software, additional tabs are automatically added to Device Manager. Notes: - You must have administrator rights to install or use Intel PROSet. - Before upgrading Intel PROSet, you have to uninstall the current PROSet that is installed on your ThinkPad. If you still face an error message like "You must uninstall the old version", uninstall the Intel PROSet for Wireless LAN driver. - If you have used prior versions of Intel PROSet, you should be aware of the following changes with Intel PROSet for Windows Device Manager: - There is no system tray icon. - The configuration utility is not accessible from the Control Panel or the Start menu. - All Intel PROSet features are now accessed from Device Manager. To access features, simply open the Device Manager and double-click the Intel adapter you would like to configure. Manual Install 1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges. 2.
