To set to 'High Performance' mode, refer to the 'SWITCHING BETWEEN HIGH PERFORMANCE AND ENERGY SAVING MODES' section. 1. Right-click anywhere on an open area of the Windows desktop, select ATI Catalyst(TM) Control Center. 2. If the ATI Catalyst Control Center is opened for the first time, a window will open asking to choose between 'Basic' or 'Advanced'. Select 'Advanced' and click 'Next'. 3. Catalyst Control Center Notification window will open then click 'Yes'. 4. Catalyst Control Center Advanced window will open. In the 'Graphics Settings' pane, select Information Center then 'Graphics Software'. 5. In the 'Graphics Software' pane, Driver Packaging Version is displayed. Check if the correct version is installed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SWITCHING BETWEEN HIGH PERFORMANCE AND ENERGY SAVING MODES - It is recommended to close any graphics settings utility such as ATI Catalyst Control Center or Intel Customer User Interface before switching between different performance modes. 1. In the Task Bar, left click the battery guage. A pop-up window will open. 2. In the pop-up window, mouse over 'Switchable Graphics'. 3. Select 'High Performance' or 'Energy Saving' depending on what mode you prefer. A 'Power Manager' window will open. Click Yes to proceed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTES - If the BIOS is not updated to the version 1.18 (6FET48WW) or later, you have to update the display driver first before BIOS update. Or you will be asked for an appropriate driver for a newly found hardware device and the display may be VGA (640x480) mode. In VGA mode, your icon arragement on the desktop will be messed up. - This software requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. This version installs it if not installed into your system. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Notes: - If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section. - Before update, uninstallation of current driver is recommended. Refer to the Uninstallation Instructions section. Manual Install This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. Downloading files 1. Click once on the underlined file name with the left mouse button. Once this is done, a pop-up window will appear. 2. In this pop-up window, choose (using the left mouse button) the directory you would like to download the file to and click the "Save" button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete without your assistance. 3. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully. 4. After being downloaded, the file will need to be extracted. Extracting files 5. Open Windows Explorer and locate the directory where the file was downloaded. 6. Locate the file that was just downloaded and click it using the right mouse button then select 'Extract All'. 7. The file will begin to extract in the directory where the downloaded file is located. Installing files 8. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges. 9. Open Windows Explorer and locate the directory where the files were extracted. 10. Double-click SETUP file. 11. Follow the instructions on the screen. 12. At the Select Components screen, click Express. 13. At the Setup Complete screen, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now. 14. Click Finish to reboot the system and complete the installation. Unattended Install This is for system administrators' use only. - Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the files. - At the command line, execute SETUP.EXE with the -install option. Example: [Path where the files were extracted]\SETUP -install -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Note: - During uninstallation, an error message 'Windows cannot find 'igfxtray.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.', may appear. Close the message to proceed uninstallation. Manual Uninstall 1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges. 2. Open Control Panel. 3. Click or Double-click on 'Uninstall a program'. 4. Select 'ATI Catalyst Install Manager' and click on 'Change' button. 5. Click 'Next' button to open Catalyst Install Manager window. 6. In the Catalyst Install Manager window, select 'Express Uninstall All ATI Software'. 7. Click 'Next' button to continue and finish the uninstallation. 6. Click 'Yes' button to restart Windows.
