Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package to the hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\TPWUSB 3. For Windows Vista, click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run... For Windows XP, click Start, then click Run... 4. Specify setup.exe with the full path name of the location where you extracted the package and click OK. EXAMPLE: C:\DRIVERS\TPWUSB\setup.exe 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. 6. If a Digital Signature warning message appears, click "Continue Anyway" button (Windows XP) or "Install this driver software anyway" (Windows Vista). 7. *SHUT DOWN* the computer to power off, then power on again for correct installation. Unattended Install This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Command Prompt. 3. At the command line, execute setup.exe with following options. Setup.exe -s ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UNINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Note: - When you uninstall the Intel Wireless USB Software, if you want to delete the device information you associated with your ThinkPad, remove the device information before uninstallation with the procedure below. 1. Double click the Wireless USB icon from the Task tray or the icon on the Desktop to open the Wireless USB Connection Manager. 2. In the Wireless USB Connections tab, one of the Wireless USB device displayed. 3. Click "Disassociate" button. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 if you want to remove other devices. Manual Uninstall [Windows Vista] 1. Click "Start", then click "Control Panel". 2. Click "Programs / Uninstall a program". 3. Select "Intel(R) Wireless UWB Link 1480". 4. Click "Uninstall" button. 5. Click "Yes" button on the confirmation pop-up. 6. User Account Control pop-up may open. When it opens, click 'Allow' to continue uninstallation. [Windows XP] 1. Click "Start", then click "Control Panel". 2. Click "Add or Remove Programs". 3. Select "Intel(R) Wireless UWB Link 1480". 4. Click "Remove" button. 5. Click "Yes" button on the confirmation pop-up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HINTS AND TIPS If you cannot connect your computer with the Wireless USB Hub, refer to the following instructions. 1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Download the latest Wireless USB software (this package) from Lenovo web site and install the software in your computer. 3. Download the latest software from the Wireless USB hub maker's Web site, and install the full package, as well. 4. Attach the Wireless USB hub to the computer with using a USB cable. 5. Open the Device Manager: [Windows Vista] a. Click Start, then click Control Panel. b. Click System and Maintenance. c. Click System. d. From the left pane, click Device Manager. [Windows XP] a. Click Start, then right-click My Computer. b. Click Properties. c. Click the Hardware tab. d. Click Device Manager. 6. Double-click the Universal Serial Bus controllers category. 7. Right-click on "XXXXXX (a Wireless USB hub maker's name) Cable Association Interface", and click "Update driver Software". 8. Select "Browse my computer for driver software". 9. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". 10. Select "Intel(R) UWB Cable Based Association Framework Driver", and click Next. 11. If "Intel(R) UWB Cable Based Association Framework Driver" is not listed, click on Have Disk. Browse to C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Wireless UWB Link 1480\cbaf. Once "Intel(R) UWB Cable Based Association Framework Driver" appears on the list, select it and click Next. 12. In case you see a "Update Driver Warning" pop-up, proceed with the installation of the drivers by clicking on Yes. 13. Click Close. 14. Check if the "XXXXXX (Wireless USB Hub maker's name) Cable Association Interface" is replaced with "Intel(R) UWB Cable Based Association Framework Driver" on the Device Manager. 15. Close the Device Manager. 16. Upon successful update of Cable Based Association driver software, hub association will proceed. 17. After successful association, remove the USB cable from the computer to establish host-to-hub connection. 18.
