Turn on the computer. 3. While the "Press F1 to enter SETUP, Press F12 to display Boot Menu" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key. The PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 4. Verify the BIOS Version. 5. Turn off the computer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATING THE BIOS Notes: - If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the BIOS. To determine if you should update the BIOS, refer to the Version Information section. - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the BIOS. Attention: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU DO THAT WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. The BIOS is downloaded as a ISO CD image file, user must burn it into a CD-R/RW optic disk at first. then the optic disk can be used to update user system. please reference to the manual update section. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- INITIALIZING BIOS BIOS Initialization is suggested for some problems. To initialize the BIOS settings: 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Turn on the computer. 3. While the "Press F1 to enter SETUP, Press F12 to display Boot Menu" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key. The PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 4. Press the F9 key to load default configuration. 5. Select Yes. 6. Press the F10 key to save default configuration and exit. 7. Select Yes. IF YOU DO THAT WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Explorer. (Downloading files) 1. Click once on the underlined file name with the left mouse button. Once this is done, a pop-up window will appear. 2. In this pop-up window, choose (using the left mouse button) the directory you would like to download the file to and click the "Save" button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete without your assistance. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully. After being downloaded, the file will need to be extracted. (Burn the bootable update optic disk) 3. Locate the directory where the file was downloaded. 4. Locate the file that was just downloaded and burn it into a optical disc (CD-R/RW). (Updating the BIOS) 5. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 6. Shutdown the computer. 7. Turn on the computer. 8. While the "Press F1 to enter SETUP, Press F12 to display Boot Menu" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F12 key. 9. In the Boot Menu, Select the IDE CD: XXXXX, press enter to boot system with optical disc. 10. While the "BIOS Version: 66ET42WW", "Please press "Y" key to start Flash Process!!" message is displayed on the screen, press "Y" key, the Phoenix Phlash16 Utility will begin to update the new BIOS.
